photographer based in Seoul, South Korea.
Since 2019, I’ve been capturing unforgettable moments for travelers, couples, and influencers from all around the world. Whether it’s a wedding photoshoot, a Korean pre-wedding session, or a Seoul travel photography experience, my goal is to help every client feel comfortable, confident, and natural in front of the camera — even if posing feels unfamiliar.
I believe photography is not just about taking pictures, but about telling your story through beautiful, timeless images. Let’s create warm memories together in the heart of Seoul that you’ll cherish forever.
💍 A Secret Two Months in the Making: A Han River Proposal
As a Seoul photographer, capturing a surprise proposal is always incredibly thrilling. The anticipation, the nerves, and the overwhelming joy make it one of my absolute favorite moments to document.
The story of this beautiful proposal started two months before the actual shoot. The groom-to-be reached out to me in advance, and we spent weeks secretly communicating back and forth to plan every single detail. When we discussed locations, he mentioned that they preferred a serene, natural atmosphere over the busy, crowded city streets. I immediately knew that Yanghwa Hangang Park would be the perfect fit. With its lush green trees, peaceful riverside walkways, and the beautiful bridge arching in the background, it offers an incredibly romantic and quiet setting away from the hustle of central Seoul.
When the big moment finally arrived, it was pure magic. Standing right by the gentle waters of the Han River, he dropped to one knee. The sheer surprise and emotion on her face, the delicate close-up of the diamond ring slipping onto her finger, and the joyful moment of her admiring the ring against the sky—these are the raw, unscripted emotions that make photography so rewarding.
It was a perfectly executed plan in a beautifully natural setting, leading to the most important word of the day: "Yes!"
🕵️♂️ The Master Plan: How We Pulled Off the Ultimate Surprise
To make a surprise proposal truly unforgettable, the execution has to be absolutely flawless. Here is the secret plan we carefully orchestrated:
I arrived at Yanghwa Hangang Park early, blending in perfectly as just another local photographer taking landscape and nature shots by the river. I kept a close eye out, patiently waiting for the couple to walk into my line of sight.
Once they arrived at our pre-arranged spot, I waited for the perfect timing. I casually walked up to them and politely asked, "Excuse me, the lighting is beautiful here—would you like me to take a picture of you two?" It is a completely normal, friendly interaction in a scenic park, so she did not suspect a thing!
The very moment she turned and handed her phone to me, her boyfriend took his cue. He stepped back and dropped to one knee right behind her. When she turned back around to pose for the photo, she was greeted with the surprise of a lifetime.
After the emotional tears and the joyous "Yes!", we took some time to capture their glowing, just-engaged smiles. Just look at how incredibly happy they are in these portraits, proudly showing off that beautiful ring! As a photographer, helping a client successfully pull off a secret mission like this and capturing their genuine, unfiltered joy is the most rewarding feeling in the world.
🌿 The Post-Proposal Glow: A Romantic Stroll by the River
Once the initial shock, adrenaline, and happy tears gracefully subsided, we seamlessly transitioned into a relaxed engagement photoshoot. The absolute best photos always stem from genuine comfort, so instead of giving them stiff, unnatural poses, I simply asked them to take a slow, romantic stroll along the riverside pathway.
This is where Yanghwa Hangang Park truly shines as a photoshoot location. Surrounded by lush weeping willow trees, vibrant green grass, and the gentle flow of the Han River, the couple had the perfect, quiet space to take a deep breath and finally soak in the reality that they were now engaged.
I took a few steps back to give them their private space and focused on capturing them just being themselves. Whether they were walking hand-in-hand beneath the striking arch of the bridge, exchanging sweet, intimate glances under a canopy of green leaves, or simply enjoying each other's company, these unposed moments turned out beautifully. It perfectly documented their unique, natural chemistry and the peaceful, romantic atmosphere of their special day in Seoul.
🌿 Direct Smiles: Radiating Happiness to the Camera
While we prioritize natural, unscripted moments that capture the true essence of your connection, we also recognize the unique importance of dedicated portrait sessions where you look directly at the camera. Our philosophy is to never leave out these crucial, camera-aware portraits from your gallery.
After pulling off the big surprise by the river, we transition seamlessly into capturing stunning portraits. These direct-to-camera shots provide a beautifully clear record of your faces on this monumental day, radiating genuine happiness directly to the viewer. They are perfect for formal announcements and framing.
Notice how the first photo uses the Yanghwa Bridge and the rocky shore by the Han River to create a powerful, scenic portrait where the couple's embrace and direct smiles define the moment. Similarly, the second photo captures a joyful, direct smile as they look back while walking hand-in-hand, beautifully bridging motion with formal portraiture. Even as we explore different areas, like the serene rose garden seen in the third photo, we always make time for these intimate connection portraits. A complete gallery tells a full story, and direct smiles that radiate pure happiness are an indispensable part of that story.
💖 The Favorite Shot: Just Like a K-Drama Finale
As a Seoul photographer, I am often asked to capture a "K-Drama" aesthetic. While we strive for natural authenticity, there is one specific shot from this proposal session that absolutely nails that romantic, cinematic feeling. In fact, it is my absolute favorite photograph from the entire day.
We transition seamlessly into capturing stunning, wide-angle shots by utilizing the magnificent scale of the city. I decided to change my vantage point and make the climb onto the Yanghwa Bridge itself. From high above, looking down upon the tree-lined riverside pathway, I found the perfect composition to frame their story.
I asked them to hold hands and, simply, "run." The result is pure magic. As they sprint together, bathed in the soft, romantic glow of the Late afternoon sun, with a gentle haze from the river, they genuinely feel like the leads in a sweeping romantic drama. Notice how the 'TOT' and arrow text on the path below add a unique, graphic local touch to the image.
Even as we explore different perspectives, like looking back along the rose garden path as seen in the third photo of this specific portrait set, we always make time for these powerful, scenic portraits. It perfectly documents their unique chemistry and the peaceful, romantic atmosphere of their special day in Seoul.
